Thomas Heckel

Medium Voltage and Megawatt Power Test Lab, Fraunhofer IISB

Thomas Heckel received the Diploma degree in mechatronics in 2011, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Erlangen, Germany, in 2018. In 2011, he joined the Chair of Electron Devices, the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, where he focused on the characterization and modeling of novel SiC, GaN, and GaAs power semiconductors as well as simulation-aided optimization at very high switching speeds. In 2017, he joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Systems and Device Technology IISB, Erlangen, where he is currently leading the medium voltage electronics group. His current research interests include power semiconductor device characterization, multilevel converters and direct cooling for mobility and energy applications.
