Multilevel inverter concepts are gaining relevance in electric‑vehicle powertrains and industrial drives. IAV’s ONE-Inverter concept extends this approach by intelligently reconfiguring battery cells, enabling the simultaneous operation of multiple loads and sources at differing voltages and frequencies. A central enabler of this architecture is the use of bidirectionally switching GaN FETs, which provide fast switching, high efficiency, and compact system design.
Complementing this, Nexperia’s portfolio of WBG devices including GaN and SiC MOSFETs, tailored for next‑generation automotive architectures, supports higher system efficiency and reduced BOM cost. The close collaboration between system developers and semiconductor manufacturers demonstrates the potential for further innovation in future inverter and powertrain systems. Nexperia is committed to continued joint development with IAV to advance architectures and applications through semiconductor and packaging innovations.
