Electrifying Marine Mobility

It is estimated that 80% of global goods are transported by ships. In the last decade the volume of transported goods has increased by over 40%, and it is expected that it will continue to grow. Like the automotive industry, the marine industry has targets for reducing CO2 emissions and going climate neutral. Unlike vehicle electrification, marine electrification must consider harsh operating conditions of the sea. In this presentation we will dive deep into the marine power conversion design challenges and how silicon carbide can enable higher efficiency and better durability for marine electrification.
