*PK16™ – THE ORIGINAL DC LINK CAPACITORPK16™ – DER TRENDSETTER*
With around five times more current per microfarad than electrolytic capacitors and practically an “endless” service life, PK16™ is the perfect choice for your high-current converter and also universally suitable for the assembly of low inductance DC buffer circuits and DC filters. With its high energy density and current strength it replaces banks of series-connected electrolytic capacitors as well as large film capacitors in rectangular cases and serves the requirements of high-speed IGBT converters perfectly. Its compact cylindrical aluminium can, the robust terminals and the strong fixing stud allow for very simple and reliable mounting.
The particularly large clearance and creep age distances make this design suitable for a wide range of operating voltages. Existing converter concepts can easily be adapted to new applications without having to change the principal construction and to re-approve the entire system.
*GA85 Mesis® – REAL "85/85" WITH GENUINE PROTECTION AND ULTRA LOW INDUCTANCE*
In terms of their high capacitance density, the DC capacitors in our GA85 series are closely related to the famous PK16. With our innovative Mesis® overpressure switch, however, for the first time worldwide an effective failure protection is now available for cylindrical DC capacitors with extremely low inductance. In the event of a fault within the capacitor, the inevitable pressure rise triggers a switch, the signal of which can be used to switch off the affected circuit immediately. GA85 are tightly sealed and filled with neutral insulating gas. Therefore, they have up to 20% less weight and can be operated in areas with notoriously high climatic stress. No moisture, no chemical pollutants will penetrate the tightly sealed can.
*E61, E53 and E55 – HIGH CURRENT COMBINED WITH LOW INDUCTANCE *
The E53, E55 and E61 ranges use the same HDDC films as PK16 and GA85 but are optimized for direct connection to PCBs or low-inductance bus bars. This way, efficient substitution of electrolytic technology becomes available even for smaller inverters, e.g. in charging stations or solar inverters. The ultra-compact P5 design gives you exceptional current strength up to 80A with ultra-low inductance for devices operating at high PWM frequencies.

Large capacitors are often the most economical option for your high-power applications, be it traction, energy storage, HVDC or otherwise, and the nature of the application may imply maintenance-free operation for the next 25 to 30 years. More than 80 years of capacitor manufacturing and nearly as much experience in film metallization means that we are in the ideal position to satisfy your capacitor requirements for voltage ratings up to 25kVDC and rms currents up to 1400 A.
The dielectric is always composed of self-healing film, and all box-shaped capacitors are filled with solid resin. Nearly all models of the E59 series in hermetical metal container are custom-tailored according to your specification. As a rule, they are protected by a reliable pressure switch for a safe mode of failure. In situations where even the last millimeter counts, our E57 series may become your favourite solution. Their flame-retardant plastic housing permits to mount them even in situations with almost no space for clearance distances. Low-inductance and heavy current connection is provided by copper lugs or flat brass terminals. Apart from the standard catalogue sizes, E57 capacitors can also be adapted to the specific constraints of your application.
