Towards Reliability-Oriented Mission Profiles for Electric Aircraft Propulsion Converters

11 Jun 2026

Speaker: Jeff Kugener, Research Associate, DLR

Representative load profiles are critical for assessing power electronics in electrified aircraft. This work derives load profiles for propulsion converters from historical flight data of conventional aircraft. Multiple routes were analyzed to capture operational diversity and altitude patterns. The resulting datasets provide a basis for electro-thermal modeling and lifetime prediction, supporting robust design and reliability assessment of power converters in electrified aircraft propulsion.
